Maiden Heart, Kim Beggs, from Blue Bones (Black Hen Music, streaming at myspace.com/kimbeggs).

"Kim Beggs’s sturdy, trusting, girl-woman voice is perfect for this song about a kind of innocence that never dies. It’s a love song that’s also about a northerner (Beggs lives in the Yukon) getting bruised in the south before returning to the heart’s true sheltering harbour."

Helloo out there!
I am writing from the road. We have done our fifth show of the Home Routes Tour and the whole tour, and it is going extremely well. Four of the five shows were sold out and the cd sales have been exceptional! Natalie Edelson is part of this tour with her great harmonies and some banjo and electric guitar. We are touring through southern Manitoba and then fly to Ontario for a few shows there, which includes a double bill with the Undesirables in Toronto on Sat, April 24th. Sean Cotton will be playing some fancy guitar with me for that show!
I then travel to Saskatchewan for a couple of shows, Alberta for five shows and BC for a few more. See the list
Let me know you are coming by visiting my facebook event for the tour, and pressing attend (if you are on facebook!). You will still need to buy tickets in advance for some of the shows. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=221094629969&index=1
Thanks everybody. See you at the show!

New CD name change
Whitehorse, YT    17-Feb-10
news article 12
The new album has been recorded (with Steve Dawson) and I have decided to call it Blue Bones not Mama's Dress. Blue Bones has been beautifully designed by A Man Called Wrycraft.

You can still buy pre-sales of Blue Bones to be sure to get your copy early.

On this album is included a wonderful lineup of fine players and singers from Canada and the US. It is a very exciting mixture of DNA and it sounds great!
Here they are:
Steve Dawson, Laurie Lewis, Gurf Morlix, Jeanne Tolmie, Natalie Edelson, Ben Rogalsky, John Raham, Chris Gestrin, Keith Lowe, Joey Wright, Moritz Behm.

I will be previewing some of the new songs at Frostbite Feb 19-21, 2010.

I am currently in the studio recording my next album. It is very exciting to be recording at the Factory with producer Steve Dawson and all the fine musicians including Chris Gestrin, John Raham, Keith Lowe and Steve Dawson himself. Sheldon Zaharko is the in-house fabulous engineer at the Factory Studio in Vancouver where we have spent the last three days recording the bed-tracks.

Congratulations to fellow Yukon songwriter, Kim Barlow, for winning the CBC Radio 2 Songquest commission to write and record a song about Dawson City. I have had many chances to write about Dawson City in song and film (see my store). I am happy for Barlow. She is fabulously talented.
